AT&T is now selling everyone favorite refurbished phone, the iPhone 3G (8GB) for $49. All I can say is wow, and how can Larry not get himself one. Larry blows $49 plus on a night of drinking Glenlivet scotch.

If you prefer a new iPhone 3G it will still cost you just $99. Obviously the new iPhone 3GS’s are $199 [16GB] and $299 [32GB].

We still think the 3GS is worth the extra money but at $49 we expect Larry to make a bee-line to his favorite Apple store soon.

So maybe a stripped down version of OSX is not what Larry is looking for. How about a Windows 95 iPhone 3G or should it be a Windows 95 msPhone 3G? Some ingenious jailbreakers, with too much time on their hands and nothing to do no doubt, have put Windows 95 on an iPhone to create a hillariously odd Parallels / VMware replacement.

Notice I didn’t say 3GS as it’s only currently running on the iPhone 3G but we suspect moving things to the iPhone 3GS can only improve things do to the increased processor and memory. Check out the video where you can see it on an actual iPhone and within the Mac-based emulator.

Kramer is back on my iPhone. I just changed my sms tone to Kramer saying, “Hello an welcome to moviefone.” You can jump to 23 seconds if you want.

Check out how I did it here and temember you need a jailbroken iPhone with ssh.

Now that you have jailbroken your iPhone and installed openssh or similat you may want to update one of those 6 crappy sms tones to something cool. In the end you will overwrite a *.caf file on your iPhone.

Here’s what to do:

a) Go to iTunes, preferences, general, advance, import setting, set it to use aiff encoding [it likely says aac now].
b) Get the file you want to use in iTunes, right click and create aiff version.
c) Close iTunes.
d) Find the *.aiff, copy it and rename it to *.caf
e) sftp the file to /System/Library/Audio/UISounds on you iPhone overwriting one of the 6 sms-recieved files already there.
f) Reboot your iphone, go to setting and select the overwritten tone.
g) Go back to iTunes, preferences, general, advance, import setting, set it back to use aac encoding again [if you wish].

Not quite sure how to explain this one other than to say an iPhone and an iPod Nano get together and made a baby phone.

With a 5 megapixel camera, a great looking jog wheel and no at&t contract all for $90 how could anyone pass this up?

We all love our iPhones, except for Larry that is. Maybe something like this can turn his fancy?

As you all know Larry is the only hold out of the 5 of us the not to get an iPhone. That led to one of my friends to say, “It’s okay, we need Larry not to get one, this way only 4 out of 5 friends have chosen the iPhone. It make us seem more real and not a pack of fanboys. If 5 out of 5 of us had an iPhone…”

This got me thinking back to the old days of the commercials where “4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum after meals.” What does the 5th recommend?

Not that I am calling Larry stupid here, far from it.

This is an exclusive scope from JC. He ran into Larry’s wife yesterday [Wednesday, July 8] and she also thinks Larry needs an iPhone! He said, “I suspect she [Larry's wife] will be donating to the website! Lol.”

I for one will be happy to accept her money. It will go really well with the money her brother Eric [Larry's brother-in-law] already donated to the cause.

This is wonderful news why not make it even better by giving a little yourself.

Now normally tecmo bowl and the iPhone would not have much in common. While I [and I'll bet many of you] would love an iPhone emulator, especially to play some classics like tecmo bowl, we already know Apple said no to emulators. So what is the connection for GetLarry, tecmo bowl and iPhones you ask? Well not only did Monday night’s dinner contain lot of iPhone jailbreaking but also an old school tecmo match on the Wii between Larry and myself.

Tecmo bowl was a blast. Larry went with SanFran for the Montana/Rice/Lott trifecta. I went with the NY Giants [even though I am a Jets fan] because LT is just too good and too fast. Unfortunately even using Ronnie Lott couldn’t help Larry on defense and although having Jerry Rice at WR did get him a lot of extra catches in coverage it was not enough as NY [me] beat SanFran [Larry] 28-14. Not only did I shut him out in the second half but about every 37 seconds Larry kept asking me about the controls for offense. It was if we didn’t play it every day of our lives growing up.

I hope Larry steps his game up for the rematch.

So last night all five of us got together for a little dinner, some Artie Lange/Joe Buck F bombs, old school tecmo bowl and some good ole fashion iPhone jailbreaking.

While Larry was [obviously] in attendance we still were unable to convince him to get an iPhone just yet. I think we are beginning to break him though as he said in an email this morning, “Let me think about it.”

Jailbreaking was very easy for JC and I [via purplera1n] although JC’s phone did take a lot longer to do it.

Sorry it has been a while since we posted. Was on a mini-hiatus both because of a short vacation with the family as well as life just getting in the way.

Expect a full-court press out of GetLarryAniPhone once again.

We got our first donation this morning [26 June 2009] and the apple [pun intended] didn’t fall far from Larry’s tree.

His brother-in-law, Eric and great friend of GetLarry has graciously donate $1 towards getting Larry an iPhone.

We are now only a messily $498 USD short of our goal of $499. 2% down, 98% to go!

But back to the business at hand. We need to get Larry an iPhone, donate please.

So it seems some publicity is not always good publicity after all.

With all the hoopla articles like the one from CNN got it’s no wonder Apple has [at least temporarily] reversed it’s position and pulled the ‘Hottest Girls’ app from the iTunes store. The app disappeared shortly earlier today causing tons of adolescent teen to cry on their screen protectors.

Previously, Apple would not approve this kind of material for sale on iTunes but many people had been hoping that with the new parental controls Apple might begin to loosen the rains. I guess they will only do it if no one knows about it.

Technologizer has a great little article comparing the iPhone to the once great Commodore 64. Sadly to say it starts of by telling us, “Apple has rejected a Commodore 64 emulator for the iPhone.” While that is not too surprising since Apple strictly forbids emulators we @GetLarry are sure disappointed to here this. We love our Commodore 64. Weren’t the graphics and the game so awesome?

This is Larry and this site dedicated to him making the right decision,  joining the rest of us and getting an iPhone.

In so many ways Larry is on the “right” track.  He has a lovely wife, a wonderful family and tons of great friend.  He loves scotch, the NY Yankees, and the show 24.  He has a beautiful house and a job he loves.

Unfortunately when it comes to cell phones this otherwise dapper individual loses his way.  He’s experimented with some awful phones like the motorola krzr and even had a doodie phone that he drop in the toilet.

So many of Larry’s friends have iPhones [Jeff, John, Mike and me just to name a few].  His brother-in-law has one, his father-in-law is in the market for one too [or so the rumors say].  Even his mom has one but not Larry. Confused???? You betcha!

Forget this Blackberry bold crap Larry and join the i,Revolution!
